About the Event

Candace Couse (she/her) is a Canadian artist living in the Fraser Valley in British Columbia. She is a grateful guest on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō People, where she is an Associate Professor at the University of the Fraser Valley. Candace earned an MFA from the University of Calgary (2010) and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Brock University (2020). Her work has been shown across Canada, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Trinidad, Pakistan, Nepal, Iceland and India.

 

Description of the class:


In this 8 week course on Monday evenings you'll develop your drawing skills and become proficient in the vibrant, blendable medium of chalk pastel. This class focuses on achieving high realism by learning to accurately translate source photographs into detailed artwork. We'll build from essential techniques, including value, colour theory, and layering, to the creation of a strong, finished piece. Students may work from provided…
