ART MACHINE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
About the Art Machine:
Run by the Hope & District Arts Council, the Art Machine is a modular building located at 357 Fort Street in Hope that hosts community arts programming via regularly scheduled art classes and workshops at a low cost. We encourage anyone and everyone interested to attend, regardless of experience or ability. Classes include drawing, collage, painting, pottery, paper crafts and more!
The Art Machine has two studios: Studio A and Studio B. Studio A offers a variety of mixed media classes, and Studio B is strictly for pottery.
About the Job:
The Art Machine Program Coordinator’s goal is to enhance and expand programming in the Art Machine (AM) through the development of culturally diverse programming. The successful candidate will bring a positive attitude and be receptive to new ideas and methodology.
This position reports to the HDAC Chief Administrative Officer.
Duties include:

plan Art Machine workshops; develop workshop ideas, recruit new instructors

coordinate workshops; assist/assign set up and clean up, procure materials as needed

assist the Marketing Committee and instructors with program/workshop advertising and promotion
-
assess and evaluate arts programs/workshops/instructors eg. popularity, profitability, scheduling etc.

regular interaction with staff and customers of the Art Machine through periodic attendance in AM classes and visits to the AM
-
report to and work cooperatively with HDAC Chief Administrative Officer

work within a budget, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures

monitor overall studio cleaning, supplies and class setup

reporting and monthly meeting attendance
Essential Skills & Experience:
-
ideal candidate will have previous experience doing work similar to program coordination in the arts sector

experience coordinating events and/or workshops
-
ability to recruit, engage, oversee and evaluate a diverse range of instructors and volunteers
-
excellent communication skills
-
ability to develop and manage social media platforms
-
able to work flexible hours

The position is a hybrid job requiring you to work from home, as well as at the Art Machine in Hope.

This is an hourly position of 15-20 hours per week.

Rate of pay is $19/hour, plus vacation pay. HDAC provides CPP, EI and WCB coverage.
