ART Accommodations PiloT Project

ART ACCOMMODATIONS is a new project from the Hope & District Arts Council in collaboration with Advantage Hope and several accommodations. In this project the Arts Council is looking to match local, Hope & District, artists with interested accommodations as a set of specific exhibition opportunities both in Hope and up the canyon! We are starting with a couple venues this summer and will be looking to expand on this project year after year. Every accommodation will be approached differently depending on the location and paired artist(s). The finished installation/exhibitions will be documented for social media by Advantage Hope giving local accommodations, artists, and regional tourism a much needed boost! If you're an interested accommodation, local artist, or anyone wanting to support this multi-faceted cultural initiative we'd love to hear from you! Please contact Ryan at artmachine@hopedistrictartscouncil.com for more information.

This first collaboration is between local plein air painter (acrylic & watercolour) Holly Smith @hollyasmith and Inn the Mountains (3rd Ave, Hope, BC). Don't miss this exhibition of Holly Smith's painting most of which is representing Hope itself. Up until August! The works in this case are for sale but stay on the wall for the 2 month duration. Inquires can be sent to artmachine@hopedistrictartscouncil.com. Hint: take a minute to gaze at the Memorial park winter scene then get yourself an ice cream!

Inn the Mountains is a rolling 2 month exhibition opportunity for local artists in the heart of Hope, BC. The collaboration between the Arts Council and Inn the Mountains is titled 4 x 4. We are currently seeking submissions of 4 or 5 paintings with one work (frame included) measuring 4' x 4'. The selected artworks will be hung throughout the lobby area and will receive a large degree of walk through exposure given how busy this newly renovated hotel is. We are currently seeking submissions for the August/September exhibition slot.

Many thanks to artist Holly Smith, Nurudin Lakhani and his staff at Inn the Mountains, and Amanda Figlarska from Advantage Hope for their commitment to bringing this project to fruition!
