About the Event

Bio:

Oleh Oleniev is a Ukrainian born art historian and art critic currently living in Hope with his family. He is interested in art history as a living document and a valuable pursuit that allows us to better grasp our present time. He is less interested in art history as a static document and rather strives for lively art performance 'lectures' in which numerous perspectives can be coaxed out of the various artworks and cultural movements discussed.


Event description:

In this initial presentation of a series of art history events Oleh will look at the Bayeux tapestry, depicting the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England in 1066, from a number of different perspectives in stressing its continued relevance to a contemporary audience as propaganda.
